My Philosophy
1000 Cranes Kitchen was the idea of Dr. Chris Walinski, a writer, a dentist, and yes, a pretty darn good cook! Good enough to be in the Top 20 of MasterChef - Season 14. "I believe that food and cooking is a gift from the heart, and in turn,
FOOD IS LOVE!"
About Me
I didn't blossom until my parents moved us to Hope, NJ in 7th grade. That's when I learned the value of hard work and where I met truly good, "salt of the earth" people. This is the reason I will always list Hope, NJ as my hometown.
Fast forward to the present and I am now a dentist, professor and key opinion leader who has lectured in almost 50 countries! I have three wonderful children; Jillian, Matthew and Chris, and I married the love of my life, Veronica :-) (who I met while I lived in Hope), but we weren't married until just six years ago!
Another important lesson: The overused but too often ignored expression that
LIFE IS SHORT! GET BUSY!
Why 1000 Cranes?
In Japan, cranes are sacred because they live for 100 years or more. The Legend of 1,000 Cranes teaches that if a sick person folds 1,000 origami cranes, their wish to become well will come true. A girl named Sadako in Hiroshima contracted leukemia after the atomic bomb was dropped on her city. She started folding 1000 cranes in hopes that she would be cured, but made only 644 before she passed.
1000 Cranes Kitchen allows me to take this journey with you.
